A former employee of the Hermosa School of Dance and Music has been arrested after hidden cameras were discovered in the studio’s bathroom. The incident came to light on May 3 when a parent found the cameras concealed inside wicker baskets. This alarming discovery prompted the parent to immediately turn off the recording devices and contact the police.
The Hermosa Beach Police Department acted swiftly, launching an investigation that led to the arrest of 25-year-old Jourdyn Godoy from Torrance. He faces serious charges, including felony possession of child pornography, annoying or molesting a child, and criminal invasion of privacy. Godoy is currently being held on a $100,000 bail.
The dance studio, which serves students aged 2 to 18, has expressed gratitude to the police for their prompt response and thorough investigation. The studio’s owners, Liliana Somma and Dan Galitzen, thanked the community for their support and transparency during this troubling time.
In a letter to parents and students, the owners confirmed that Godoy was a front desk staff member with no previous criminal history. Following the incident, the studio has taken significant steps to enhance security. They have installed security cameras, hired a security company to inspect the premises, changed locks, and designated specific bathrooms for students only.
The police are continuing their investigation in collaboration with the Los Angeles Regional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The studio owners reassured families that they are committed to providing a safe environment for all students and have implemented measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
