Tennessee Skydiving Plane Crashes Shortly After Takeoff, Injuring Several Passengers

Several people were injured when a plane crashed in Tennessee on Sunday afternoon. The Tullahoma Police Department reported that the incident occurred shortly after the aircraft took off from Tullahoma Regional Airport around 12:30 p.m.

The plane, a DeHaviland DH-6 Twin Otter, was carrying up to 20 individuals, including crew members. According to Lyle Russell, a community engagement officer with Tullahoma, the aircraft experienced an "unknown issue" shortly after takeoff, leading to its crash into trees and terrain.

Emergency responders, including the Tullahoma police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, quickly arrived at the scene on Old Shelbyville Road in Coffee County. Three victims were airlifted to nearby hospitals, while another was transported by ground for more serious injuries. First responders treated other passengers with minor injuries at the crash site. Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities.

Officials confirmed that no ground facilities or people on the ground were harmed during the crash. The area remains an active scene, and authorities are asking residents to avoid it while the investigation is ongoing. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are involved in the investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

During a news conference, officials expressed relief that the injuries were limited and extended their thoughts to those affected by the crash. As the investigation unfolds, more updates will be provided to the public.
