Patel Vows FBI Action Against Those Assaulting Officers Amid Los Angeles Unrest Over ICE Raids

Border Patrol agents faced a dangerous situation during an anti-ICE protest in Paramount, California, on Saturday. While trying to leave the area, their government vehicle was attacked with rocks, stones, and concrete. This incident occurred amid escalating tensions in the city, which has seen multiple days of protests against immigration enforcement.

FBI Director Kash Patel spoke out following the violence, emphasizing that anyone who assaults a law enforcement officer will face serious consequences. He stated, "If local jurisdictions won’t stand behind the men and women who wear the badge, the FBI will." This warning came as President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guardsmen to the area to assist law enforcement.

During the protest, several Border Patrol agents were injured, one suffering a bloody hand from a rock that shattered the vehicle’s windshield. U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael W. Banks shared images of the injuries, highlighting the dangers faced by agents in the line of duty. Federal sources indicated that the situation could have been deadly, with the potential for severe injuries or fatalities from the flying debris.

The protests in Paramount were part of a broader wave of unrest in Los Angeles, where violent riots had erupted the previous night. Over 1,000 protesters surrounded a federal law enforcement building, targeting ICE agents and damaging property. As tensions rose, multiple arrests were made for assaulting federal agents, and authorities confirmed that investigations were underway to identify those responsible for the attacks.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem warned that such protests would not deter ICE operations. She made it clear that anyone who harms a law enforcement officer would face the full weight of the law. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino also urged the public to come forward with information about those throwing rocks, promising that the agency would use all available resources to locate the offenders.

The protests reflect ongoing divisions over immigration policy and enforcement in the U.S. As federal authorities continue to respond to these incidents, the situation remains tense, with law enforcement prepared to take strong action against those who threaten their safety.
