Exclusive — Sen. Marsha Blackburn: Senate to Enhance Big, Beautiful Bill Beyond House Version

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) expressed strong optimism about the U.S. Senate’s ability to improve a significant piece of legislation recently passed by the House of Representatives. During an interview on Breitbart News Daily, she shared her vision for enhancing the bill, which is now in the Senate’s hands.

Blackburn emphasized that the Senate aims to make the bill even better by focusing on reducing spending. She believes these cuts will ultimately save taxpayers money. "We are wanting more spending reductions, which are savings for the taxpayer," she stated confidently, indicating a commitment to getting the bill to President Trump’s desk soon.

The senator expressed hope that the legislation would be ready for the president to sign by Independence Day. "My hope is that on Independence Day, he is signing this legislation," she said, highlighting the urgency of the matter.

When discussing the typical legislative process, host Mike Slater noted that bills often become less favorable as they move through Congress. Blackburn acknowledged this concern but remained focused on the goal of reaching a spending level of six and a half trillion dollars. She mentioned that achieving this target would allow for continued budget cuts in the following year.

Blackburn also touched on the importance of a rescission bill, which is necessary for certain cuts that cannot be included in a reconciliation bill. She proposed that Congress should consider passing a rescission package every month. This, she believes, would help meet the president’s objective of achieving a balanced budget within a year.
