A tragic traffic accident in Sun Valley resulted in the death of a 65-year-old man and injuries to two Los Angeles police officers. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Monday in the 10900 block of West Saticoy Street.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the man was making a left turn from Cleon Avenue onto Saticoy Street when his vehicle collided with a police cruiser. The officers were responding to a call regarding a domestic violence situation, using their siren and lights at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders worked quickly to free the man from his vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. The two officers involved were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were fortunately not life-threatening.
Witnesses reported seeing a silver Honda sedan with significant damage on the driver’s side, along with an LAPD Ford SUV that sustained damage to its front end. The intersection where the accident occurred has a stop sign on Cleon Avenue, but Saticoy Street does not have a traffic signal or stop sign.
