Suryavanshi, 14, Achieves Historic IPL Century with Remarkable Performance

In an exciting match, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines by becoming the youngest player to score a century in men’s T20 cricket. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, Suryavanshi achieved this remarkable feat against the Gujarat Titans in Jaipur on Friday.

Suryavanshi reached his hundred in just 35 balls, marking it as the second-fastest century in IPL history, and the fastest by an Indian player. He hit 11 sixes and seven fours before being bowled out for 101 runs off just 38 balls. His explosive performance helped the Royals chase down a target of 210 runs, leading to an eight-wicket victory.

Earlier this month, Suryavanshi had already made his mark by hitting a six on his very first ball in the IPL. He was signed by the Royals for 1.1 crore rupees (approximately £103,789) during last year’s auction. This match saw him partner with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored an impressive 70 runs off 40 balls, as they put together a stunning 166-run partnership.

The young batter’s century came in the 11th over, with a massive hit over deep mid-wicket. Only Chris Gayle has reached the century milestone faster in the IPL, doing so in 30 balls back in 2013.

This victory was crucial for the Rajasthan Royals, as it ended a streak of five consecutive losses and kept their hopes alive for a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans, despite strong performances from Shubman Gill, who scored 84 runs, and Jos Buttler, who contributed an unbeaten half-century, fell to third place in the IPL standings due to net run-rate.

Suryavanshi’s record-breaking performance not only showcases his talent but also brings excitement to the IPL, highlighting the potential of young players in the league.
