Easter Morning Highway Fatalities Occur on L.A.s 10 and 405 Freeways

It was a tragic Easter morning on the highways of Los Angeles, with two separate accidents resulting in fatalities. A wrong-way crash on the 10 Freeway near downtown claimed one life and caused significant delays for holiday travelers. Meanwhile, another fatal incident occurred on the 405 Freeway in the North Hills area, although that highway remained open.

The California Highway Patrol received reports of the first accident at approximately 5:25 a.m. on the westbound side of the 10 Freeway, just east of Central Avenue. The collision involved several vehicles. Emergency responders pronounced one person dead at the scene and transported four others to local hospitals. Their current conditions have not been disclosed. Due to the crash, traffic was severely impacted, with only one lane open in each direction while a SigAlert was in effect.

Details about the driver involved in the wrong-way crash are still unclear. Authorities have not confirmed whether impairment was a factor in the incident.

In the second accident, which took place on the 405 Freeway south of the Nordhoff Street exit around 2:19 a.m., two cars were involved, resulting in one fatality. The CHP has not released further information about this crash.

Both incidents serve as somber reminders of the dangers on the road, especially during busy holiday periods. Authorities encourage drivers to remain vigilant and cautious, particularly during peak travel times.
