Easter Morning Traffic Fatalities on the 10 and 405 Freeways in Los Angeles

It was a tragic Easter morning on local highways, with two separate accidents resulting in fatalities. The California Highway Patrol reported that a wrong-way crash on the 10 Freeway near downtown Los Angeles claimed one life and caused significant traffic delays for holiday travelers. Meanwhile, another fatal accident occurred on the 405 Freeway in the North Hills area, although that interstate remained open.

The first incident happened around 5:25 a.m. on the westbound side of the 10 Freeway, just east of Central Avenue. Several vehicles were involved in the collision. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while four others were taken to nearby hospitals. Their current conditions are not known. A SigAlert was issued, restricting traffic to just one lane in each direction.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the driver responsible for the wrong-way crash was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The second fatal accident occurred earlier in the morning, around 2:19 a.m., on the 405 Freeway south of the Nordhoff Street exit. This crash involved two vehicles, and one person was also pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP has not released further details regarding this incident.

Both accidents highlight the dangers of highway driving, especially during busy holiday times when traffic volumes increase. As investigations continue, officials are urging drivers to remain cautious and aware of their surroundings.
