Pasadena police shot and killed a dog while responding to a report about a woman lying on the ground with the animal nearby. This incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Tuesday near South Hudson Avenue and East California Boulevard.
According to reports, officers arrived to find the woman making incoherent statements. Before animal control or fire department personnel could get to the scene, the dog allegedly charged at one of the officers. In response to the perceived threat, the police shot the dog.
The woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation, but no other injuries were reported in connection with the event. The Pasadena Police Department has not yet commented on the incident.
This tragic event raises questions about police responses to situations involving animals, particularly when mental health issues are involved. It highlights the need for better training and protocols to handle such sensitive situations.
