Navarro downplays conflict with Elon Musk: ‘Just typical boy behavior’

Peter Navarro, a former trade advisor to President Trump, has responded to recent insults from billionaire Elon Musk, insisting that their relationship is strong. During an appearance on NBC’s "Meet the Press," Navarro downplayed the tensions, saying, "First of all, Elon and I are great. It’s not an issue."

This statement comes after a public spat between the two. Navarro had criticized Musk’s Tesla, suggesting it is more of a "car assembler" than a true manufacturer, claiming that the company relies heavily on parts sourced from other countries. He pointed out that many components, like batteries and electronics, come from places like Japan, China, and Taiwan.

Musk did not take kindly to Navarro’s comments. He took to social media, calling Navarro "truly a moron" and asserting that Tesla produces the most American-made cars. Musk further insulted Navarro, saying he is "dumber than a sack of bricks."

Despite the back-and-forth, Navarro praised Musk’s contributions to the Trump administration, stating, "Everything’s fine with Elon." He acknowledged Musk’s efforts in addressing issues like waste and fraud, emphasizing the positive impact of his work.

The White House has also weighed in on the situation. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt suggested that the public disagreements show President Trump’s openness to diverse opinions. She remarked, "Boys will be boys, and we will let their public sparring continue."

This exchange highlights the differing views on trade and tariffs among top advisors. It also reflects the ongoing tensions in the tech and automotive industries, especially regarding American manufacturing practices.
