Maine experienced a light snowfall over the weekend, with two to five inches accumulating by Saturday morning. Michael Clair, a meteorologist with the Weather Service, noted that this kind of snow is typical for the region. He mentioned that it’s not unusual to see snow in April, especially as the state transitions into spring.
Snowfall was expected to continue throughout Saturday, but it should begin to ease as the day goes on. Forecasters predict that the weather will clear up next week, bringing drier conditions.
For some residents, like Jill Woodworth from Orange, Massachusetts, waking up to snow in April can feel surprising, even if it’s a common occurrence. Woodworth, who has lived in the area for 25 years, expressed that while she knows snow in spring is normal, it still catches her off guard. “It feels like it’s been a long ramp up to spring with the flowers and the trees,” she said.
As spring unfolds, weather patterns can be unpredictable, and Clair warned that more snow might still be on the way before the warmer temperatures finally settle in.
