Celebrity Fitness Expert Jillian Michaels Criticizes Newsoms Stance on Trans Issues, Cautions Parents About Social Transitions in Schools

Celebrity fitness trainer Jillian Michaels has raised concerns about the current political climate surrounding transgender issues, particularly regarding children. In a recent op-ed for the Daily Mail, she cautioned parents to be wary of Democratic leaders who seem to be distancing themselves from what she calls "radical transgenderism." Michaels argues that these politicians have not truly changed their stance on what she views as a troubling issue.

Michaels pointed out that a significant majority of Americans—over 70%—do not support extreme policies related to transgender care for minors, such as taxpayer-funded surgeries and puberty blockers. She noted that this sentiment was evident in the recent 2024 presidential election. Specifically, she highlighted California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has been a strong supporter of "gender-affirming care." According to Michaels, Newsom is now beginning to soften his stance, particularly regarding biological males competing in women’s sports and the state’s financial backing for gender transitions for minors.

Despite these shifts, Michaels emphasized that such changes are more about political strategy than genuine moral reflection. She criticized Newsom for still backing California’s "Safety Act," which allows schools to keep parents in the dark about their children’s requests to socially transition. Michaels expressed her frustration, stating that cutting parents out of these discussions is unacceptable.

Michaels also highlighted the phenomenon of "social transitions" in schools, where teachers might address a child by a different name or pronoun without parental knowledge. She warned that this could lead to medical transitions and serious consequences for children.

Moreover, Michaels pointed to a trend she sees as social contagion, where more children are exploring gender identities, particularly in progressive circles. She noted that this trend is especially prevalent among adolescent girls, who may be more susceptible to social pressures. Michaels drew parallels to past waves of social issues, like eating disorders, and urged parents to approach this topic with skepticism.

In her conclusion, Michaels reminded readers that questioning the sudden rise in gender dysphoria among children often leads to being labeled as intolerant. She believes it is crucial for parents to remain vigilant and informed about these developments.
