At 36 years old, Jones leaves behind a remarkable legacy. He is the franchise leader in receptions with 848 and receiving yards with 12,896. He ranks second in touchdowns for the Falcons, with 60, just behind Roddy White. In his farewell statement, Jones reflected on his journey, which began when he was just eight years old in Foley, Alabama. He expressed gratitude for the support he received throughout his career, particularly from his family.
Jones made his announcement on April 5, a date he noted as significant to him. He stated, "I’m doing this on 404 day — it was a hell of a ride. … This was for the city, man, I appreciate you all." His love for Atlanta was evident as he thanked the city and the fans for their support over the years.
Drafted sixth overall by the Falcons in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Alabama, Jones spent the first ten seasons of his career with the team. After his tenure with the Falcons, he played one season each with the Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Philadelphia Eagles. His last appearance on the field was in 2023 with the Eagles.
