Police Believe Body Found in Oxnard is That of Missing 13-Year-Old from the Valley

Law enforcement has discovered a body in Oxnard that is believed to be that of a 13-year-old boy named Oscar Omar Hernandez. He had been reported missing after failing to return home to the San Fernando Valley from a visit to a friend in Lancaster. His family reported him missing on Sunday, prompting a swift response from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

On Tuesday, LAPD homicide detectives took over the investigation and uncovered leads that pointed to an area of interest in Oxnard. With the help of the FBI, they conducted a foot search in the vicinity of North Harbor Boulevard and West Gonzalez Road, near McGrath State Beach and the Santa Clara River. It was here that they found a body matching the description of the missing teen.

While the body has not been officially identified, authorities are treating it as Oscar’s. The cause of death remains undetermined, and police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton noted that the missing boy was from the LAPD’s Foothill Division, which serves several neighborhoods in the San Fernando Valley.

As the investigation continues, detectives are seeking information from anyone who may have knowledge related to the case. The community is left in shock, grappling with the loss of a young life and hoping for answers in the days ahead.
