CBS Poll: Almost 60% of Americans Favor Trumps Mass Deportation Policy

A recent CBS News poll shows that a majority of Americans back President Donald Trump’s mass deportation program. The survey revealed that 58 percent of American adults approve of the initiative aimed at locating and deporting immigrants living in the U.S. illegally. In contrast, 42 percent of respondents expressed disapproval.

The support for Trump’s deportation plan is particularly strong among specific groups. Notably, 93 percent of Republicans favor the program, while 56 percent of swing voters also support it. Among white non-college-educated Americans, 69 percent are in favor, and 56 percent of white college-educated Americans share the same view.

Hispanic Americans show a more divided opinion on the issue. The poll indicates that 47 percent approve of the deportation program, while 53 percent oppose it.

Trump’s immigration policies continue to resonate with many Americans. A separate survey from the Pew Research Center found that 32 percent of adults support deporting all illegal immigrants, and 51 percent favor deporting some. Only 16 percent of those surveyed do not support deporting any illegal immigrants.

Among those who support deporting some illegal immigrants, a significant 97 percent believe that individuals charged or convicted of violent crimes should be deported. Additionally, 52 percent feel that those charged or convicted of nonviolent crimes should also face deportation.

These findings highlight the ongoing debate over immigration in the United States and illustrate how Trump’s policies remain popular among a considerable portion of the population.
