Trump: Andrew Jacksons Tree Planted Many Years Ago to Be Removed

President Donald Trump announced that a historic magnolia tree, planted by former President Andrew Jackson, will be removed from the White House grounds. In a post on Truth Social, Trump explained that the tree is in poor condition and poses a safety risk. He emphasized that it would be replaced by a new, beautiful tree.

The magnolia, which originated from Jackson’s estate, The Hermitage, in Nashville, Tennessee, was planted many years ago. Trump noted that Jackson had planted two Southern Magnolia trees in honor of his late wife, Rachel. She passed away before he took office, and the trees have been a part of the White House landscape ever since.

In his announcement, Trump mentioned that the tree’s removal is necessary for safety reasons, particularly since it is located at the entrance of the White House. He stated that the removal process would begin next week. Additionally, he assured that the historic wood from the tree would be preserved for future use by the White House staff.

Trump expressed pride in the ongoing enhancements to the White House, highlighting the collaboration with the Executive Residence Staff and the National Park Service. He aims to protect and preserve the historical significance of the site while ensuring the safety of its visitors.
