Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin recently appeared on Fox News’ "Hannity" to discuss the arrest of a prominent MS-13 gang member and to criticize President Biden’s immigration policies. Youngkin’s comments came after the arrest of Henrry Josue Villatoro Santos, who had been living in the U.S. for over a decade and was charged with illegal gun possession.
During the interview, Youngkin expressed his frustration with Biden’s administration, claiming it has turned America into a "sanctuary country." He emphasized the contrast with former President Trump’s tougher stance on illegal immigration, stating that under Trump, there was better cooperation between state and federal law enforcement.
Santos was arrested in Virginia on an outstanding warrant. Youngkin noted that the operation involved collaboration among various agencies, including the FBI and the Department of Justice, which has led to the arrest of multiple gang members in recent weeks.
Youngkin highlighted the importance of this collaboration, saying, "Virginia is safer" now due to these efforts. He mentioned that the task force had recently arrested 28 MS-13 members and 19 members of the Tren de Aragua gang, showcasing a significant crackdown on organized crime.
The governor’s remarks reflect ongoing concerns about public safety and immigration policy in Virginia and across the nation. Youngkin believes that the current administration’s approach has hindered effective law enforcement, unlike during Trump’s presidency.
As the conversation around immigration and crime continues, Youngkin’s statements underscore the political divide on these issues and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies.
