Alina Habba, the new acting U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, recently shared her views on the legal system during an interview on "The Alex Marlow Show." Habba, who has been a prominent figure in Donald Trump’s legal team since late 2021, criticized what she sees as a flawed system filled with political prosecutors and judges.
In her interview, Habba reflected on her experiences working with Trump, mentioning that defeating Michael Cohen in court was a significant achievement for her. She described Cohen as someone who had squandered opportunities and later turned against Trump, leading to legal troubles for the former president. Habba believes her strong defense in that case is part of the reason she was appointed to her new role.
Habba stated her primary focus as U.S. Attorney will be on crime reduction, aligning her agenda with Trump’s priorities. She emphasized the need to tackle issues like violent crime and human trafficking, while also addressing immigration concerns that she attributes to the Biden administration.
She highlighted her opposition to the legal actions taken by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who accused Trump of undervaluing his properties. Habba argued that there was no actual victim in this case and criticized the use of specific laws that she claims were misapplied to target Trump. She expressed concern that such tactics could set a dangerous precedent for future legal battles.
Habba also pointed out that some of Trump’s alleged offenses occurred after the statute of limitations had expired, but new laws were enacted to extend these limits specifically for certain cases. She accused Governor Kathy Hochul of New York of collaborating with Trump’s accusers to create laws that could unfairly target political opponents.
In her new position, Habba called for reforms in the judicial system, particularly regarding the behavior of judges and prosecutors. She believes that the legal system should not be politicized and that those in power should be held accountable for their actions. Habba expressed frustration over the lack of consequences for those she claims have misused the legal system against Trump.
As she settles into her role, Habba is determined to address what she sees as systemic issues within the legal framework. She insists that the focus should return to law and order, free from political influence, to ensure justice for all Americans.
