Yosemite National Park Summer Reservations Now Available Following Delay

Yosemite National Park has reopened reservations for summer camping at several popular campgrounds after a period of uncertainty. The delays were caused by the implementation of a new reservation system and cuts to park staff, which raised concerns about when bookings would resume.

Starting Monday morning, visitors can make reservations for camping from June 15 to July 14 at campgrounds such as Upper Pines, Wawona, and Hodgdon Meadow. Reservations for the following month, from July 15 to August 14, will open on March 31 at 7 a.m. Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov.

Earlier this year, the National Park Service had to pause reservations while waiting for approval from the Trump administration for the new system. This pause, combined with significant staff reductions—about 10% of the Park Service’s workforce—left many wondering when camping would be available again.

On March 20, the National Park Conservation Association announced that it would reinstate all probationary park staff who had been let go, attributing the reservation delays to these staffing issues.

Yosemite National Park saw over 4 million visitors last year, with peak attendance occurring between June and August, according to National Park Service data. The reopening of reservations is expected to attract many eager campers looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the park this summer.
