Mondays Temperatures Set to Soar into Record Levels Before Plummeting by 20 Degrees

Angelenos are in for quite a weather surprise this week, with temperatures set to soar. On Monday, downtown Los Angeles could experience its hottest day of 2025, with highs reaching between 85 and 90 degrees. Areas like Woodland Hills might even see temperatures hit 95 degrees, according to meteorologist Robbie Munroe from the National Weather Service.

This heat wave could break some records. The previous high for March 24 in Woodland Hills was 89 degrees, and Munroe believes there’s a good chance that record will fall. Burbank is also expecting a warm day, with temperatures forecasted to reach 90 degrees, just shy of its daily record.

However, this warm spell won’t last long. By Thursday, temperatures are predicted to drop by about 20 degrees, settling around 70 degrees. While the valleys will cool down, the desert and mountain areas of Los Angeles County are expected to remain hot and windy throughout the week.

The spike in temperatures is due to a high-pressure ridge and an offshore flow that is bringing warm air from the mountains to the coast. Along the Southern California coast, residents should prepare for high surf, with waves reaching between four to seven feet, driven by strong winds and storms off the coast.

Looking ahead, a storm system moving down the Central Coast could bring light rain to Los Angeles between March 30 and April 2. Munroe noted that it’s uncertain how far south this system will reach, but it may provide some much-needed moisture to the area.

As the week unfolds, Angelenos should brace for this roller coaster of temperatures, enjoying the warmth while it lasts but keeping an eye on the forecast for the cooler days ahead.
